A Life Dedicated to Community
Sabir Esa is a well-known figure in the British Muslim community. Born in Malawi and brought up in the United Kingdom from the age of two, he has spent over three decades working at the intersection of business, community organising, and public accountability. His work is driven by a simple belief: that ordinary people deserve honest representation and transparent governance.
With a background in business management and entrepreneurship, Sabir built a successful career in the private sector before turning his attention to the issues that affected his neighbours, friends, and fellow citizens. From waste management failures to parking disputes, from council unresponsiveness to broader questions of civil liberties, he has consistently raised his voice where others have remained silent.
Journalism and Media
As the editor of the Muslim Voice Network, Sabir has published hundreds of articles, investigations, and opinion pieces covering local and national issues. His writing style is direct, factual, and unapologetic. He believes that journalism should serve the public interest, not commercial or political agendas.
His coverage has included council spending investigations, public health accountability reports, and features on community resilience. He has been interviewed by regional media outlets and has spoken at community forums across the country.
Values
- Truthfulness — Facts first, always.
- Accountability — Those in power must answer to those they serve.
- Community — Change begins at the local level, with people working together.
- Accessibility — Information and legal rights belong to everyone, not just those who can afford them.
